L&Q has opened a new regional development office in Milton Keynes.

The company has ambitious plans to further tackle the housing crisis on a nationwide basis, including providing more high-quality, genuinely affordable homes in Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire.

L&Q has identified this region as a key area that needs more affordable housing. Recent research undertaken by Milton Keynes Council has shown that Milton Keynes alone will need an additional 8,200 affordable homes to be delivered over the next 15 years.

The new office, located in the heart of Milton Keynes, will initially house 16 staff with a view to increase this number as operations expand. The office will focus on supporting L&Q’s work in the area, including 225 homes at the Saxon Reach development in Wavendon.

This move represents the start of L&Q building a presence in Milton Keynes. The leading housing association has an ambitious plan to deliver 100,000 new homes across the UK over the next ten years, at least 50% of which will be genuinely affordable.

L&Q acquired Gallagher Estates, a leading strategic land company, in February 2017 to support this push. In February 2019, Gallagher Estates, became L&Q Estates, the acquisition has enabled L&Q to provide the full master developer role, from securing planning consents, delivering infrastructure and developments, and managing housing and estates across the UK.

Craig Luttman, Deputy Group Director of Development and Sales at L&Q said: “As a charitable organisation, providing high-quality homes to as many people as possible, is key to us. Opening a new office in Milton Keynes will further strengthen our ability to provide much-needed homes in the region.”
