Chobham Manor, a joint venture between L&Q and Taylor Wimpey, has been awarded Best Large Development at the Evening Standard New Homes Awards 2022. Located between the former Athlete’s Village and the Lee Valley VeloPark, the development helps to ensure that the 2012 Olympic legacy continues to live on in the 850 homes, extensive green space, culture facilities, and leisure spaces.
In the London Borough of Newham, the thriving residential district can be found in the heart of the former Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which has now been crafted into a leafy neighbourhood, with tree-lined avenues and rich landscaping sitting alongside world-class sporting venues. With £1.1 billion invested in the area, and the arrival of cultural organisations like the London College of Fashion, the location has been highlighted as one to watch.
With this in mind, it is no surprise that the development was given the accolade of Best Large Development at this year’s Evening Standard Awards, which aims to honour Britain’s best housebuilders, who are judged by experienced industry experts and readers alike.
The first of five new neighbourhoods that celebrate the legacy of the Olympics, which London hosted a decade ago, Chobham Manor was recognised for its community facilities and plentiful open space, often much desired by purchasers in the capital. Moreover, they highlighted that its proximity to Westfield shopping centre, which is home to 300 shops, restaurants, bars, a bowling alley, casino and cinema complex, and the East Village, a popular place to spend a weekend, means that there is plenty for buyers to explore in their local area.
An excellent spot for commuters, buyers at the development have easy access to Stratford International Station and Stratford Underground Station, which are serviced by the London Overground, DLR, Central and Jubilee Lines as well as National Rail and High Speed 1 services. For city workers, journeys take just 9 minutes into Canary Wharf and 16 minutes into London Bridge.
This ease for commuters has been reflected in the popularity of the area, as many of the homes are now sold in award-winning development, adding to the buzzing sense of community.
