L&Q’s latest launch at Whalley Manor, Whalley, has led to an influx of enquiries, with plenty of hopeful homeowners contacting our sales team for more information on the Ribble Valley development. A picturesque scheme designed to be in-keeping with the local community, Whalley Manor offers a unique opportunity for homebuyers in the North West.

The development by L&Q, in partnership with Lovell Homes, comprises 117 two- to five- bedroom homes set around 10 acres of open public space.

We’ve sat down with Emily Sharples, Sales Consultant at L&Q, to chat all things Whalley – from what makes the development so special, to why she thinks the Ribble Valley was voted the ‘happiest place to live in the UK’ by The Guardian.

What’s your favourite thing about Whalley Manor?

“There’s so much at the development that I could speak so highly about, from the spacious homes to the high-quality interiors, but I think my favourite thing has to be the views of the nearby countryside. Whalley Nab can be seen from the sales office and from most of the homes here – it’s a gorgeous landscape of hills and green space, and truly isn’t like anything else nearby.

“The development is also a short walk into the centre of Whalley, which is quite hard to come by. There are a few schemes nearby where it’s a 30-minute walk or so into the village, but from Whalley Manor you can be there in 5 minutes which means you can leave the car at home when you want to pop to the shops or the independent wine bar. The site is going to be complete with lots of public pathways and access routes, but the development feels truly like a part of the village already.”

What’s your favourite thing about Whalley in general?

“I know I’ve already touched upon this, but the countryside feel of the village is just second to none. I think that a sense of community goes hand in hand with the countryside nature of the area, and it’s a lovely environment on the doorstep of the development. It feels like a traditional village, and there are plenty of local businesses to support and things to do.

“We’ve really enjoyed getting involved with the local community, and have felt extremely welcomed. One way in particular that we’ve been able to support Whalley as a village is through our Community Investment Fund which provides community-based organisations with an opportunity to access grant funding for activities that will further support their local community. We’ve awarded a total of £70,000 to community organisations in the local area, including funding given to Whalley Old Grammar School, Whalley Sports Club and Whalley in Bloom.”

Name a few of your favourite local spots for food and drink

“There are so many, but if I had to pick a few I’d have to say Whalley Wine Bar, Deux Amis and Amico Mio. The wine bar is a local favourite for everyone – it’s a lovely spot to head to for a drink and meet with friends, and they are really professional and knowledgeable but welcoming in there. Deux Amis is a café nearby that we love for a nice lunch, and Amico Mio is an Italian tapas that everyone raves about. One of the families at Whalley Manor actually owns Amico Mio, so it’s great to have a really local and independently-run restaurant nearby!”

What types of buyers have you been seeing at Whalley Manor?

“We’re seeing a real mix of buyers at Whalley Manor, but one thing that is consistent across all purchases is that our customers are searching for their forever home; they are looking for a countryside village with a good range of shops. Filled with likeminded people, the community at the development is becoming really tight knit and friendly.”
