Whether you’ve recently moved and are in need of a starting point, or simply hoping to refresh your current carefully curated interiors, we’ve brought in the experts.

Director at Suna Interior Design, Rebecca Tucker recently designed our two bedroom show home at The Chain, Walthamstow, and three bedroom show home at L&Q at Darwin Green, Cambridge. She shares her top tips and tricks for a 2021 update.

The usual aching for long summer days and warm evenings has certainly heightened after a year of cold, zoom-filled lockdowns. Hopefully our homes have remained our havens, but being inside has certainly made us look at how we can reimagine our spaces.

Colour is the big thing for this year; we all want to bring brightness and life into our personal space. Whether you’re looking forward to hosting friends, elevating your WFH set up or simply in need of some summer styling, here are some tips to bring yourself into the coming Summer with style:

  • Make an entrance. A gorgeous colour on all walls will go a long way to making a statement entrance hall. Typically, a hallway does not have a lot about it apart from doorways into other rooms, so where better to be a bit brave with colour!
  • Once we can return to hosting in our dining rooms, banquette seats are a fantastic way to add some character. This one for The Chain was a bespoke-made piece, but there are plenty of similar styles on the market. They pair perfectly with upholstered stools which can always be tucked away if needed.
  • Bring bold colours into your WFH space. If you are lucky enough to have a dedicated study then adding bold colour will make it a room you are happy to head to every morning, cuppa in hand. If your desk is in a living room or a bedroom, it might be worth considering zoning it with a band of colour.
  • Brighten bedrooms with a feature wall colour or wallpaper, and use colours that might be a bit braver than you would normally go for. Mixing strong colours or colour-blocking is a really current trend, we love this deep coral wall colour with the mustard headboard at L&Q’s Darwin Green development..
  • Artwork is a sure-fire way to brighten up a space. There are so many places to buy relatively inexpensive, large scale prints that can really impact a space. Companies like Desenio or Iamfy offer a whole range of options, or, alternatively, you can always create your own!
  • To finish off the room, vibrant cushions and bed throws are an inexpensive way to bring a tired bedroom back to life.
