A new Tesco Express has opened at Bankside Gardens, Reading.
The store will serve thousands of residents and workers from Bankside Gardens, Green Park Village and Green Park Business Park, which are just 10 minutes from Reading town centre.
The contemporary shop has a range of products including a bakery, Costa Coffee Express machine, meal deals and lottery tickets. It also brings with it food bank donations and Tesco’s Community Grants funding opportunities for local good causes.
Kelly Elsam the Store’s Manager said:
“We’re hugely excited to be opening our new Reading Green Park Express to help support the community. The store opening will provide a real boost for Reading, helping to employ and train local people, and it’ll be a pleasure to see our colleagues grow and develop. We are really looking forward to welcoming so much new talent and experience into our Tesco team.”
Local community groups are invited to apply for Tesco’s blue token voting scheme which sees three local projects voted on by customers in store every three months, with first place awarded £1,500, second place £1,000 and third place £500.
The Tesco store is in the heart of Bankside Gardens, and part of the first block at L&Q at Bankside Gardens, making it easy access for Shared Ownership customers. The site is centred on a nine-acre lake with walks, trim trails, play areas, green open space.
The adjacent Reading Green Park station is due to open in summer 2023 and will offer speedy connections to Reading in just 6 minutes.
