One of the largest race events in the Essex calendar, the Chelmsford Marathon and Marathon Half is returning this autumn, to raise money for Havens Hospice.

Taking place on Sunday 16th October, we are delighted that the event will be sponsored by Beaulieu, our joint venture residential development with Countryside located on the outskirts of Chelmsford.

Returning for its eighth year, the event will raise money for Havens Hospices, an Essex-wide charity that provides palliative nursing care for children, young people and adults living with complex or incurable conditions, whilst offering support for their families.

For those eager to run the full marathon distance, the route will start at Shire Hall in the city before heading out through the beautiful surrounding countryside and picturesque Essex villages before finishing in Central Park. The half marathon is available for those wanting to race a shorter distance.

The event provides a fantastic opportunity for the local community to come together, just a short journey from Beaulieu, to support a worthy charity.

Adam Simpson, Director of Project Management and Development at L&Q said: “Whether you’re joining in, supporting the runners, or volunteering, it’s a brilliant day for the whole community – so please come down and get involved.”

Located close to the city of Chelmsford, Beaulieu is our joint venture scheme with Countryside. Once complete, the impressive 610-acre development will ultimately deliver 3,600 new mixed tenure homes, as well as new schools, health and sports facilities and new retail amenities. Offering a countryside lifestyle in the heart of Essex, Beaulieu is home to a plethora of green spaces including play parks, walking routes and woodland, all within a short drive to Chelmsford centre.
