2. Visit RHS Garden Hyde Hall – 23 minutes’ drive from The Arbour

RHS Garden Hyde Hall is transformed into a winter wonderland during the Christmas season, presenting an unmissable after-dark spectacle of lights throughout November and December. Stroll through the enchanting, illuminated gardens, which come to life with thousands of twinkling lights. New for 2023, follow the trail up onto the hilltop, past the iconic Thatched Barn, stopping to see a fountain on the top pond, before heading back through the Dry Garden, where you’ll see a carpet of colour, mirror balls on the lake and lanterns lighting your way – an impressive vision in this much-loved garden.

3. Ice Skating at Riverside Ice and Leisure – 9-minute drive from The Arbour

4. Christmas Pantomime – 9-minute drive from The Arbour

No Christmas season is complete without a pantomime! This winter, Jack and the Beanstalk, the giant spectacular family pantomime, roars into Chelmsford Theatre from Friday 1 December 2023 until Sunday 7 January 2024. Audiences can expect outstanding sing-along songs, glitzy costumes, hilarious jokes, amazing dance routines and a huge helping of magic as this family-favourite is brought to life on stage.

5. Santa’s Grotto at Beaulieu – 11-minute walk from The Arbour

Just down the road from out new homes at The Arbour, Santa and his elves will be popping by the Beaulieu Community Centre on Sunday 3rd December. For £5, guests benefit from entry to the Christmas Market, and Santa’s Grotto, with proceeds going towards local charities.
