Laura comments: “I was so thankful that L&Q built new Shared Ownership homes so close to where I already lived. I didn’t want to leave Beaulieu – it’s really lovely and has lots of green, open space. I am a keen walker, so the location is ideal as there is a bridle path right outside my house that links up to a lovely park!”
“There are so many great shops and a community centre nearby in Beaulieu Square, including lots of local businesses and small cafes, which is perfect for me as I love that community feel!”
Now happily moved into her brand-new two-bedroom home at The Arbour, Laura explains her favourite aspects about the house. “I love my home and I am happy here! My new house is spacious for a two-bedroom home and it is really great value for money – especially when comparing it to others on the market in the area.”

Sarah, Darren and Harry
Sarah, Darren and Sarah’s 13-year-old son Harry had been renting privately in Chelmsford for years but kept finding themselves looking for a new place to live when landlords decided to sell. Sarah explains, “I was really upset. Finding a home is difficult enough anyway, but we also have a rabbit and a cat, and not many rentals allow pets, so our options were limited – it was a nightmare.”
The family discovered L&Q’s pet-friendly homes at The Arbour and went on to purchase a 35% share of a two-bedroom semi-detached house through Shared Ownership.
Sarah says: “I cannot find a fault. The house is so lovely, and the area is amazing. It feels incredibly safe here – there are loads of footpaths and cycle paths, so Harry can now cycle to school in the morning, and I’m not concerned about it at all
“We’ve got a supermarket, a community centre and lovely green grass everywhere. The Beaulieu Train Station is on the horizon, which will be great when Harry is a bit older and wants to visit his dad in London, and we get a year’s free bus pass into Chelmsford, which we’ve been using to go to the cinema on weekends.”

The bus timetable coincides with the Chelmsford Railway timetable, meaning commuters can reach London Liverpool Street is less than an hour. Plus, the new Beaulieu Park Station is due to be completed in the coming years, which will bring transformative transport connections for the area.

Shared Owners Trevor and Emma explain, “Most importantly, it’s a totally different life for the kids – there’s a real future for them here. It feels really safe, and we think the kids will be able to make friends with our neighbours who also have children. The community is amazing; everyone takes pride in their house and it’s so clean. You can actually smell the fresh air when you walk outside!”
“Every day we’re discovering new pathways to the shops on-site, and there’s a school next to the shops which we’re looking at getting the girls into.”
