On Monday 17 May works started on the construction of 41 new homes at Hooper’s Green, Loves Farm, located north of Cambridge Road in St Neots.

The homes are being built by housing association and residential developer L&Q. They sit on a standalone site on the edge of the 2,000 home Loves Farm development.

Once completed, the development will provide 29 shared ownership and 12 affordable rented homes, making an important contribution to meeting local housing need and helping people onto the property ladder in the area.

The homes will be built with innovative modern methods of construction. Following a landmark deal between L&Q and Stewart Milne Timber Systems in 2019, all 41 homes will be constructed using off-site manufactured timber frames.

This innovative building method means that the frames of the new homes are built in a factory before being transported to the site and erected. This enables the homes to be built to a consistently high standard, using precision engineered techniques in a controlled factory setting.

Works are expected to complete in Summer 2023, with sales launching in 2022.

Craig Luttman, Deputy Group Director of Development and Sales at L&Q said, “We’re delighted to have started works on the latest phase of the Loves Farm expansion. As an organisation, we’re only just getting started introducing our own-built homes to Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire more broadly. But L&Q Estates have been working with local people for years to enable the delivery of much needed new homes.

“As a developer – and not-for-profit charity – we pride ourselves on our long-term commitment to the areas where we built, prioritising beautiful, sustainable neighbourhoods where people can afford to live.”
