A brand-new community in the heart of Reading, L&Q at Huntley Wharf is home to many friendly faces. We had the opportunity to speak to a handful of our residents and find out why they decided to put down roots at our new riverside development, and how they’re finding things now that they’re all moved in.

Meet Hannah and Dillon, a couple who purchased 25% of a two-bedroom Shared Ownership apartment and Sophie, who secured her dream one-bedroom apartment also through the Shared Ownership scheme. Here is what they had to say:

The property and development

Sophie tells us, “I couldn’t believe how big the open-plan living space was – coming from a very small one-bedroom rented flat, where I could barely fit my sofa and TV, it was incredible to suddenly have a huge space for entertaining.”

“It was an amazing feeling when I was able to move into my home. The development is so peaceful, and my apartment overlooks the beautiful communal gardens.”

The open-plan design of our homes at L&Q at Huntley Wharf creates the ideal multi-purpose space – perfect for working and socialising!

“The apartment has been perfect on the days I work from home,” Dillon comments. “We have enough space for me to have an office, with a big window that our cat loves to look out of. Plus, we have communal gardens on-site that we can us!”

The location

Our homes at L&Q at Huntley Wharf are located in the centre of the vibrant town of Reading, a short distance from an array of shops, eateries, bars and green space with excellent transport links.

Hannah explains how her and Dillon were drawn to the local area – knowing they wanted to find a home close to the action. She says: “L&Q at Huntley Wharf was immediately appealing to us, as it was a modern development right in the centre of Reading, close to the station for Dillon to get to work in Bath, and a short walk to my work in the town centre. Plus, it was right on the river, within walking distance of the shops and with lots of nearby green spaces.”

The perfect location for date night, Hannah says, “We are less than a fifteen-minute walk to the town centre, meaning we can go out for food and drinks at all the different places near the Oracle Shopping Centre and don’t have to worry about getting home. Plus, we’ll soon have the Riverside Square which will mean we’ll have a café and shop right on the doorstep.”

Commenting on the surrounding area, Sophie’s expectations for living in the heart of Reading have been met. She says: “The location of L&Q at Huntley Wharf is ideal – we have the perfect mix between urban life and lots of nearby green spaces. Being able to walk to the hospital where I work has massively cut down my commuting time and the opening of the Elizabeth Line has made things much easier if I need to pop into London.”
