The importance of community has never been more apparent than over the past year. L&Q has long championed this view – as it builds homes and grows neighbourhoods, helping provide the infrastructure for communities to flourish.

L&Q is currently marketing homes across the capital and beyond, providing opportunities for buyers at every stage of the property journey to find a place to call home.

One recent first time buyer, Jonathan Kaye, put down roots at L&Q at Greenwich Square buying a 25% share of a one-bedroom apartment.

Jonathan comments, “As soon as I found L&Q at Greenwich Square I fell in love. It’s like a little green paradise tucked away in a secluded spot in Greenwich; you wouldn’t think you were in London at all.”

Jonathan opted to buy through Shared Ownership – the alternative home ownership scheme designed as a stepping-stone to outright ownership. The part-buy, part-rent option enables first-time buyers to purchase a percentage share of their home and pay rent on the unowned portion.

Jonathan continues, “When I came across Shared Ownership, I couldn’t believe how affordable it was. I only needed £5000 for a deposit, and the monthly outgoings were so much cheaper than renting privately. Shared Ownership has enabled me to live in a much nicer home, for much cheaper than where I was before.”

L&Q currently has a range of Shared Ownership developments helping first time buyers on to the property ladder.

In East London, L&Q at Brunel Street Works is a range of 167 one to three bedroom apartments available through Shared Ownership. Part of an ambitious £3.7bn regeneration programme transforming Canning Town with new housing, open spaces, restaurants, cafes, shops and creative workspaces, the east London hotspot currently remains one of the most affordable neighbourhoods surrounding Canary Wharf. Each apartment is designed for 21stcentury living, with large open-plan kitchen/living/dining areas connected to spacious private balconies, and ample space for a desk in every bedroom – ideal for flexible or at home working.

In West London, L&Q at Hayes Village is a brand new collection of studio, one, two, and three bedroom apartments in Hayes. Transforming the site of the former Nestle Factory, Hayes Village will become the capital’s newest urban village community, providing over 1,300 new homes with landscaped private communal gardens. The wider neighbourhood will become home to expansive green spaces with a walking trail, 200m running track, and outdoor exercise equipment – in addition to a revamped public realm along the Grand Union Canal complete with pedestrian walkways.

Outside London in Essex, L&Q has recently launched the first phase of new homes at the award-winning Beaulieu development, on the outskirts of Chelmsford. Homes at The Arbour will form part of Beaulieu, which will ultimately deliver 3,600 new mixed tenure homes, as well as new schools, health and sports facilities and new retail amenities on site. The homes are surrounded by 176 acres of outdoor public space, lush newly planted woodlands and landscaped communal gardens, making them perfect for couples and families seeking more space.

L&Q will be at London Home Show this Saturday 18 September, 10:30am – 5pm at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre, Westminster.  The event is free to attend and ticket only. If you would like to attend or know someone that does they can register here for a free ticket.
