L&Q staff went on a walking tour of Milton Keynes to gain a fuller understanding of the housing situation and urban design in the Buckinghamshire city.

Staff from the L&Q Foundation and Counties Sales team were hosted by Community Action MK on the tour. The aim was to visit different areas and appreciate the urban design, architecture social makeup, assets and local issues of Milton Keynes, where L&Q is building new homes.

Woughton Community Council, Ashland Parish Council and members of local steering groups also came along to give L&Q an insight into the challenges and opportunities for new and established communities, some of which are earmarked for regeneration.

Clare Walton, Chief Executive of MK Community Action, said: “Although I work in the community sector and have lived in Milton Keynes since childhood, this tour was a great way to explore and discover more about the city and reflect on the informal conversations of the day.”

Matt Corbett, Director of the L&Q Foundation, added: “The walking tour gave me a much greater appreciation of the city’s development and its diverse communities. It opened up lots of conversations about how we can work effectively in the area, either via the Place Maker Counties Fund or through social value with our supply chain to extend a more local offer.’

L&Q will be inviting members of the walking tour to the Saxon Reach site in Milton Keynes where they are developing 255 homes for sale, rent and shared ownership.
