Jubilee Square now open
Discover the brand new on-site amenities at Marleigh
Residents and members of the local community celebrated the grand opening of our on-site market square on Saturday 11th June!
Residents celebrated The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style at Marleigh, Cambridge, at a community day, where the new public square has been renamed ‘Jubilee Square’, in honour of the Queen’s 70-year reign.
Over 300 local residents and family and friends gathered in Jubilee Square for a day of celebrations, organised by developer Hill, supported by L&Q, to mark the occasion. A central hub for the growing community at Marleigh, Jubilee Square was adorned with bunting and rows of trestle tables and chairs laid out for guests to come together and socialise.
There was plenty of entertainment for attendees to enjoy, from arts and crafts, face painting, balloons, bubble bikes and a selection of food vans, including fish and chips and ice-cream, with live music provided by Rio Brass Band. A Jubilee selfie station proved a popular spot for guests of all ages to dress up to capture fun photo memories of the day.
One guest commented, “My family and I have had a really lovely day today and the kids have had so much fun. There has been plenty of entertainment which we have all really enjoyed, particularly the balloon maker who we would like to book for a party in the future! It’s great to see Marleigh coming to life and all these on-site amenities are so conveniently placed right on our doorstep. We will definitely keep an eye out for any more community events coming up!”
On the day, representatives from Marleigh Primary School, Monkey Puzzle Nursery and the Land Trust chatted to residents about upcoming developments at Marleigh. Opening in September 2022, the Marleigh Primary Academy will offer 420 primary school places, whilst the Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery will provide care for younger children aged 3 months to 5 years. Delivering further conveniences for the community, a Co-op will also open in September opposite the new school amongst many other amenities at Jubilee Square.
