One of the best things about living in Manchester? There’s always something to do. And at L&Q at Victoria Riverside, weekends can start with a morning run and end with dinner and drinks in the city – with plenty to fill the hours in between.

Set within the emerging Red Bank neighbourhood, L&Q at Victoria Riverside puts green space, independent businesses and Manchester city centre within easy reach. So, what could a weekend here look like?

Saturday morning: start with a run

Residents looking for a new weekend running route now have even more green space to explore, following the opening of St Catherine’s Wood in July. Located in the heart of Red Bank alongside the River Irk, the newly restored woodland features accessible paths winding through the trees, alongside open spaces, benches and viewpoints. It is also the first phase of an ambitious 113 acres of interconnected green space planned across the wider Victoria North regeneration area.

L&Q recently put the neighbourhood to the test, teaming up with Manchester Run Club for a 5km morning run from L&Q at Victoria Riverside, with the route taking runners through the newly opened woodland before returning to the development for a post-run social.

Whether you’re chasing a PB or prefer a more leisurely weekend jog, having routes like this close to home makes getting outside that little bit easier.

Not quite ready to call it after 5km? Residents can head back to L&Q at Victoria Riverside and make use of the on-site gym for a cool-down, stretch or an extra workout.

Workout done, time for coffee

Arguably the most important part of any Saturday morning, head down to Studio Dawn to grab a coffee.

Studio Dawn is located onsite at L&Q at Victoria Riverside, making it a fantastic local stop for residents. However, this isn’t your standard coffee break. This independent spot combines creativity with downtime, offering Paint & Chill sessions where visitors can paint trinkets, perfect for decorating their home. Grab a drink, get creative and you might even head home with a new accessory for your apartment!

Saturday afternoon: head into the Northern Quarter

After starting the day with a 5km run, you’ve more than earned an afternoon treat.

Manchester’s Northern Quarter is within easy reach of L&Q at Victoria Riverside, putting one of the city’s best-loved neighbourhoods practically on your doorstep. Spend the afternoon browsing its independent shops and record stores, stop for something sweet at one of its many bakeries and cafés, or meet friends for drinks and watch the afternoon turn into evening.

And if you’re not ready to head home just yet, make a night of it. The Northern Quarter is synonymous with Manchester’s music scene, with iconic venues and plenty of opportunities to catch a live gig before heading back home.

Sunday: slow things down

After a busy Saturday, Sunday calls for a change of pace.

Take a slower stroll through St Catherine’s Wood this time, follow the River Irk or enjoy a lazy morning closer to home – grabbing a pastry from Half Dozen Other on your way back. When the sun is shining, grab your favourite book and find a spot in L&Q at Victoria Riverside’s landscaped podium gardens for a few hours. There’s always a chance the weather might have other ideas, so on chillier Sundays, residents can set up camp in the stylish communal lounges instead – ideal for tuning into your favourite podcast, catching up with friends or simply settling in for a quiet afternoon without having to leave the building.

If Sunday is your day for getting organised, the co-working lounge also offers a dedicated space to prepare for the week ahead, while the on-site gym is there if another workout is on the agenda.
